            AOAC Use Dilution Test

The guidelines for testing  surface disinfectant to determine the efficacy of disinfectants against three organisms, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonella enterica, on  surfaces. The methodology is based on AOAC methods.

Following are different test 
1. Limited efficacy test. The label of a disinfectant which is effective against a specific major group of microorganisms only (e.g., Gram-positive or Gram-negative) .

2. General  efficacy test. 
Label claims of effectiveness as a "general disinfectant" - effective against a broad spectrum of microorganisms -effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.


3. Hospital or medical environment efficacy claims. 

Label claims for use of disinfectants in Hospital or medical environments-effective for general or broad-spectrum disinfection and additionally against the different organisms present at the site.

4. Other microorganisms.  label claims of effectiveness of a disinfectant against specific microorganisms other than the specified test microorganisms , provided that the target organism is likely to be present in or on the recommended use areas and surfaces and thus may present a potential problem.
